Academic life is flourishing at El-Bethel. Our teachers have a deep passion and enthusiasm for their subjects and are committed to providing high-quality teaching which develops intellectually curious, critically thinking self-motivated, enthusiastic young people with an enduring love of learning. Classes are small, and pupils are encouraged to take an active part in lessons, challenging, debating and developing their individual points of view, whilst taking cognisance of, and appreciating that of others. Much care and attention is dedicated to properly constructing our curriculum to ensure that our pupils receive a broad, varied and well-rounded academic education. Regular, constructive feedback between teacher and pupil, in all aspects of work and play is at the heart of our success in allowing each child realise and harness their true potential.
At El-Bethel School, many cultural, moral and spiritual aspects are also highlighted, modelled and developed throughout the curriculum and co-curricular activities.
Our 2+ Nursery classes are challenged by topics and themes from diverse areas of learning, from early stage numeracy and literacy, to personal, physical, social and emotional development. We aim to encourage our children to explore and develop early learning experiences, which help them make sense of the world through playful and fun means. We also aim to ease the transition from home to school while building on children’s natural curiosity and creativity.
All our Nursery School pupils follow an adapted form of the Montessori method of child education which is endorsed globally as unsurpassed in its efficient ability to help younger children achieve their full potential. The teaching approach is individualistic and child-centered. It neither imposes on the child, nor abandons him/her in total free play. We encourage each child to grow at their own unique pace, along the lines of natural development, with the teacher acting as a guide and an encourager. The nursery curriculum is broken down into the following key areas of learning.
Our 5+ Primary School classes aim to achieve effectiveness in the core skills of reading, oral and written communication and dexterity with numbers.
These themes are of crucial importance and without which further progress can be significantly inhibited. Through topics and projects, our pupils are introduced to more complex themes about the world in which they live, and are equipped to understand life in its diverse and varied aspects. Pulling from internationally endorsed methodologies, children are taught and encouraged to think critically, to inquire, to use and apply skills learned.
